At the western edge of the
Cairngorms National Park, Laggan Community covers 400 square miles
and stretches from Ardverikie Estate, Creag Meagaidh and the
Corrieyairack Pass to the west, to Glentruim and Auchmore in the
east. It is bounded by the A9 to the south and the Monadliath
Mountains to the north.
In 2004, Jo Cumming and Ian Hall took over Laggan Stores and
carried out extensive refurbishments. Fans will recognise the shop
as 'Mackechnies', the Glenbogle village shop in the BBC Monarch of
the Glen series.
Jo and Ian enjoy meeting
visitors from all over the world many of whom visit Laggan for
tranquillity, fishing, cycling, mountains, challenging Wolftrax
mountain bike trails and the outstanding scenery. Laggan
is also a useful base from which to explore the rest of the
Scottish Highlands
